With the competition within the technology this has lead or forced companies to update their technology as well. If British Airways are very good off with their smartphone application, here come the Emirates Airlines launching their free iPhone application. Emirates Airlines has a really user friendly application which enables the users to search for flight without the need to be a member. It is fast and pretty straight forward. If their airlines are properly equipped with all the entertainment goodies, they really did an amazing thing by launching this app. They are looking into making it available on android as well.

World Tourism Day is celebrated every 27 September. The theme of this year is Tourism and Community Development. More information is available at: UNWTO . 

UPDATE: According to Malaysia Airlines (2014) the incident happened around the southern Indian Ocean. Malaysia Airlines's aircraft goes off the radars somewhere above Vietnam's Ca Mau  peninsula according to BBC. The Boeing 777-200 was carring 227 passengers nationals of China/Taiwan (154 including infant), Malaysia(38), Indonesia(7), India (5), France (4), USA(3 including infant), New Zeeland(2), Ukraine(2), Canada(2), Russia(1), Italy(1), Netherlands(1), Austria (1) and Australia(6) and 12 crew members. Malaysia Airlines is still carring the search and rescue mission as currently they could not establish the exact location of the aircraft. The document approved by the State Council of China states that the development of such document was needed to comply with the people's expectations and demands from tourism, to promote the development of the tourism industry and to work on improving the national tourism system. Their aim by 2020 is to implement a paid annual leave system for the employees, promote national tourism which will lead in the growth of the tourism industry, also an environment safe and in accordance to the citizens needs of tourism, as well as looking into setting up a tourism system that will be prosperous. UNWTO has developed a Silk Road Programme which is promoting the sustainable tourism development alongside the historic Silk course. This program will enable the equal benefit for the local communities  involved, while involving investors and supporting conservation of the cultural and natural heritage(UNWTO, 2013a).       The member states are : “Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, DPR Korea, Rep. Korea, Egypt, Georgia, Greece, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan (as of November 2012).” (UNWTO, 2013b)

 According to UNWTO (2013) the first sustainable tourism observatory opened today in Greece. The observatory was opened by the University of Aegean in collaboration with UNWTO and supported by the Ministry of Tourism of Greece. 

This year London had a lot of events on stage... Starting with the fireworks from New Years Eve and continuing with the Queens Jubilee and followed by the Olympics which is supposed to be a great event that will boost up the economy, the tourism, the infrastructure and many other things. I have just recently been to London Zoo and I was very impressed by the staff there and also by the animals that they have and the way they care about them. I think if you are in London you should not miss visiting the London Zoo you will really be impressed and the fact that they have a pool of sweet penguins it's really amazing. Other main attractions are: London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Oxford Circus for some quick shopping, London Aquarium, Science Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, National British Museum ...
